  • Goodbye?

I may be shutting down this site.

My introduction to blogging began 6 years ago with a thing called My Open Diary. I kept that thing for three years. There were lots of good and bad things that I blogged during those times. As life transitioned I moved to this xanga, I kept this going for most of my college career.

Now I think it's time to move on, again. Another blog? Perhaps.
If indeed this site does shut down, I'll keep you posted.

If this is the only way you know to keep up with me, let me know. There are better ways I'm sure.

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11

  • I'm an adult

    So yeah, here I am.
So I graduated from college. Found a "real job." and now supposedly "I'm an adult." The whole thing is just kinda strange to me. You take a student out of classes, give them a laptop and bimonthly paychecks and say "Welcome to the real world!" Wow ,that makes it sound kind of nice. But then there's the thousands upon thousands of loans that you owe (all that fake money you've been living off the past 4 years, yeah you have to pay that back....), the moving expenses (twice), the attempt at budgeting only to realize those awesome paychecks don't seem as exciting because they go in and out of the bank account faster than light.
I've forgotten how quickly life can change at times. I'm still so torn between this "adult" person I'm supposed to be, and this college kid I think I still am. I still like talking about the rivalries between teams or the crazy 4am drives home. What do adults talk about anyway? (401K's right?) I find myself lacking in the conversation area. No one really understands what I actually do, and everyone who understands my love for Texas still lives in Austin.

    Anyways...
So what have I been up to?
This summer I kinda chilled around my brothers house the first half. I went on a few interviews. Then struck gold with the company I'm working at now. Then I got my job offer a day before I left for vacation to Arkansas to visit my Aunt Brenda. It was pretty fun and relaxing. We came back and celebrated Austin's 2nd birthday at Chuck E Cheese. Then it was off to work for me. I was in Chelsea's wedding at the end of that first week. It was a beautiful wedding. Everyone is getting married, it's kinda crazy. Then I moved into my very own apartment. I think this has been one of the hardest parts of the summer. I'm excited about having my own place, but it's extremely lonely. The first week or so I went to my brother's after work and cried everynight I left. It's getting better. The apartment is really nice and it's starting to shape up.
So about the job. I'm an account manager at Range Online Media. It's a marketing agency. We're based in the Stockyards. The company is amazing. The people are great. I really like it. I definately think that this is where I'm supposed to be right now. The company culture has been great for my transition into the business world.
So now that I'm settling into my apartment and my job, my next goal is to find friends. I've been attending church at my brother and sister-in-law's church. Today I went to the young adults class (there they go with that adult word again). It was nice. I met a girl named Cassie (it's so weird typing her name like that). I think we're going to hang out some. So I'm one step closer to making friends. Overall I think the young adults ministry sounds like a good deal. Hopefully I'll plug into a small group and perhaps volunteer with the High school ministries. This might be made a tad more difficult with my frequent trips to Austin planned. We'll see.

Random story: My new hobby is golf (by the way if I haven't said anything before). Today I went golfing and I par'ed a hole all by myself! But get this, on the drive, I hit the ball it skipped on the water and landed on the green!!! Pretty sweet, huh? I think so!

Anyways, back to being an adult. I'm ready for Justin to grow up and be an adult too. I must say that since we had been long distance before I didn't think that this time around would be so hard, but it is. So if anyone has a job for him in Fort Worth in 9 months, let one of us know. I need him back within 10 miles of me. Thanks.

For the curious few still in school and wondering, I do have my own stapler. I haven't had a case of the Mondays (yet). I don't work in a cubicle. I don't have to fill out TPS reports (or anything of the like). I do work in the Stockyards though. I do see atleast one cowboy everyday. (real ones.) If you want to come visit me at work, don't come at 11am or 2pm. You WILL be late because of a cattle drive.

I guess that's it. There's not much more to say.
    Have a great week!

(oh by the way, I got my birthday off as a holiday and for labor day, I get a 4 day weekend. be jealous.)

  • "The Golden Birthday"

That's what they say it's called when the date of your birthday matches your years of life. So the only real reason to recognize this birthday beyond 21 on xanga is announce that today was once in a lifetime. I turned 22 on the 22nd. Other than that, it wasn't much different than a normal day.

I spent the evening with my precious nephew who said "it's sassies birthday." and was more excited about my birthday cake than I was. He painted me cute picture frame magnets. That might be hard to top.

I really should be better at updating this. I really want to be.
    Maybe soon.
    We'll see.

  • Five years

I got flowers at work today from a pretty sweet guy. Justin and I have been together for 5 years. They have been very blessed 5 years with good times and bad times. Things that many relationships couldn't survive, we've survived. It's been amazing to see where we've been, where we are, and where we're going. God has definately had his hand in shaping our relationship and even though we're apart, it's still strong.  I love him alot, and I couldn't ask for anyone better who puts up with me, trusts me, supports me, and loves me.

Justin, thanks for the past 5 years. I love you.

Note to self: need to write about vacation, Austin's bday, starting new job, chelsea's wedding.
